CLIL – CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING
Il progetto CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) nasce con l’obiettivo di promuovere l’apprendimento integrato di contenuti disciplinari e della lingua straniera. Si tratta di una metodologia innovativa che unisce l’insegnamento di una materia non linguistica (come scienze, storia, geografia o arte) all’uso veicolare di una lingua straniera, generalmente l’inglese o il francese. In questo modo, gli studenti non solo acquisiscono nuove conoscenze disciplinari, ma sviluppano anche competenze comunicative autentiche, utilizzando la lingua straniera in contesti significativi e concreti.
Nel contesto dell’istituto comprensivo, il progetto CLIL rappresenta un’opportunità per potenziare la motivazione allo studio delle lingue e favorire un approccio interdisciplinare all’apprendimento. Nelle classi seconde della scuola secondaria di primo grado, in particolare, l’introduzione del CLIL consente di consolidare le basi linguistiche già acquisite e di stimolare curiosità, partecipazione attiva e spirito di collaborazione attraverso attività laboratoriali, esperimenti, ricerche e produzioni multimediali.
Il progetto si inserisce nella prospettiva europea dell’educazione plurilingue e interculturale, promuovendo competenze trasversali, come la capacità di imparare in modo autonomo, il pensiero critico e la consapevolezza linguistica. L’obiettivo finale è quello di offrire agli studenti un’esperienza di apprendimento dinamica e coinvolgente, che unisca conoscenze, abilità linguistiche e apertura verso altre culture.
The CLIL project (Content and Language Integrated Learning) aims to promote the integrated learning of subject content and a foreign language. It is an innovative teaching approach that combines the study of a non-linguistic subject (such as science, history, geography, or art) with the use of a foreign language—generally English or French—as the medium of instruction. In this way, students not only acquire new subject knowledge but also develop authentic communicative skills by using the foreign language in meaningful and practical contexts.
Within the framework of the comprehensive school, the CLIL project represents an opportunity to enhance students’ motivation to learn languages and to foster an interdisciplinary approach to education. In the second-year classes of lower secondary school, in particular, the introduction of CLIL helps consolidate the linguistic foundations already acquired and encourages curiosity, active participation, and teamwork through hands-on activities, experiments, research projects, and multimedia productions.
The project aligns with the European perspective of plurilingual and intercultural education, promoting transversal competences such as autonomous learning, critical thinking, and language awareness. The ultimate goal is to offer students a dynamic and engaging learning experience that integrates knowledge, language skills, and openness to other cultures.
